Why this fundraiser matters
Standing between Violence & Silence
Awareness for Child Trafficking Africa (ACT Africa) is a international human rights award-winning non-profit organiza on which has also recently received endorsement by University of Johannesburg Student Health & Wellness Department, is dedicated to preven ng and breaking the cycles of human and child trafficking, gender-based violence, and femicide across Africa. These crises are deeply interconnected, rooted in poverty, inequality, and systemic vulnerabili es. ACT Africa’s mission is to disrupt these cycles by addressing root causes, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring survivors are supported to rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity. Founded in 2019 by humanitarian leaders Hilary Leong and Matthew Mensah, ACT Africa draws on decades of experience in advocacy, survivor support, and systemic change. Their work with rescued children, awareness campaigns, and policy engagement, combined with personal experiences of trauma and resilience, with Hilary being an abduction survivor at age 13, shaped ACT Africa into a continental initiative committed to protecting the most vulnerable. .
Who We Are:
ACT Africa was born out of a passion to protect children and women from exploitation and violence. The founders’ backgrounds, ranging from UN-led peace campaigns in Liberia and Sierra Leone to grassroots rescue missions for missing children, anchor ACT Africa in both global expertise and local realities.
The ACT Africa team, our ACT Army, our N2V & Y2K Champions, bridges the gap where state systems struggle, serving as a vital safety net for the vulnerable.
The Crisis: An African Continental Emergency.
In South Africa, Gender‑Based Violence (GBVF) has been declared a National Disaster. GBVF and Human Trafficking strip individuals of dignity and rights. GBVF is visible; trafficking is hidden, cruel, and vicious.

Prevention is the Cure
We believe education is the key to eradication.

Exploitation doesn’t take a day off. We cannot plan for the future on “maybe.” We need consistency to stay on the ground year‑round.
By becoming a monthly partner, you provide steady fuel to protect vulnerable children. You aren’t just a donor, you are the shield that remains long after headlines fade.
Don’t just watch history happen. Help us rewrite it.
Implementation & Sustainability:
ACT Africa’s interventions begin in South Africa and scale across the continent, ensuring systemic change. Sustainability is embedded in every initiative through poverty alleviation, infrastructure improvements, skills development (self-defense, sustainable vegetable gardens, financial literacy), and effective management of orphanages and shelters. By addressing root causes and equipping communities with tools for resilience, ACT Africa ensures long-term impact beyond immediate interventions.
