The story
Why this fundraiser matters
The Save the Zambezi Foundation, led by Claire Powell in Livingstone, Zambia, works to protect not only wildlife but also the community's future.
Livingstone faces serious challenges: deforestation, human-wildlife conflict, littering and environmental damage, and most critically, hundreds of children are growing up without strong guidance, structure, or opportunity.
Through community outreach, education, and sport, the foundation reaches up to 600–900 children across 12 community clubs.
One of the most powerful tools in this mission is the Livingstone Rhinos Rugby Club.
Rugby is more than a game here. It is:
-A leadership program
-A mentorship system
-A discipline and life-skills school
-And a gateway to conservation education and community pride

🏉 Why Rugby?
Rugby keeps kids off the streets, builds confidence, teaches respect and teamwork, and creates role models in the community.
Through rugby, Save the Zambezi Foundation:
• Educates children about protecting elephants, rhinos, and forests
• Works with partners like the Department of National Parks & Wildlife
• Builds strong, responsible future leaders

💰 What We Are Raising Money For
We are fundraising to run the Livingstone Rhinos Rugby Club for a full year and support its community outreach work.
The core operating cost is $1,000 per month.
Monthly Breakdown:
Head Coach: $400
Development Officers (2): $100 each = $200
Community Coaches (10): $35 each = $350
Monthly inter-club tag tournament & logistics: $50
✅ Total: $1,000 per month
This supports:
12 community clubs
Up to 600+ children weekly
Coaching, mentorship, education, and competitions

👕 Additional Needs (As Funds Allow)
As we grow support, we also aim to fund:
New kits for seniors and juniors (jerseys, shorts, socks, tracksuits)
11 tournaments per year (junior & senior)
2 senior training camps (5-day camps including training, meals, education, and life-skills courses)
Not only will your donation keep the program running, but it will also help provide proper gear and opportunities these young athletes can use for years to come.
🌍 The Bigger Vision
Save the Zambezi Foundation is also organizing the Zambezi Bike Festival — a multi-day cycling and conservation event to raise awareness about:
Wildlife protection
Deforestation
Community pride
Environmental responsibility
Sport is being used as a bridge between:
